Bio

Julie Wright, originally from San Antonio, TX received her BFA in Communication Design at Texas Tech University. Her professional career began as a digital designer creating strategic brands and marketing campaigns for corporate and nonprofit clients, including Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena, American Heart Association, and Habitat for Humanity. Over time, her creative passions, mediums, and exhibited works have expanded beyond the digital screen to include tactile works in photography, painting, and sculpture. 

Now living and working in Conroe, Texas, Wright has developed a unique style and body of sculptural works that emerged in 2024.  Highlighting the critical role of play in shaping our personal identity, Wright’s plaster relief sculptures present fantastical scenes using recycled toys. Their stories, sentiment, and presence intertwine with her memories of childhood and motherhood.

With her unique expression in plaster and bold use of color, Wright’s most recent sculptural works have achieved milestones, including exhibiting in the Archway Gallery’s 17th Annual Juried Exhibition, receiving third place in the Ardest Gallery’s Juried Colorfield Show, and participating in the Artists Inc. Houston Fellowship. Before creating sculptural works, Wright has exhibited her paintings and photography at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, Doss Cultural & Heritage Museum, Dallas Metro Arts Contemporary, and the University of St. Thomas.
